Last day of Manga Drawing at Hemlington Hall Primary.

Today was the last day of Manga Drawing at Hemlington Hall Primary.

This time the parents joined in and we had a right good time drawing our own Manga characters into a pre-made comic that I (Ingi) had prepared for the class, but was missing some vital elements…   The kids were a delight to work with (the parents too) and I’m looking very much forward to see how they will incorporate these Manga lessons into their final comic assignment.

Many thanks for your enthusiasm and creativity, kids! :-)

Manga at Hemlington Hall.

Today was the third time Ingi taught Manga Drawing at Hemlington Hall Primary. The kids, as in the past lessons, did excellent.  Today we focused on speech-bubbles, framing and special effects as: WHAM! – BANG! – KAZAAAM!  Next week they will be drawing Manga with their parents, I just hope they can draw as good as the kids! :)

First frame in a comic by Amber, called; Ingi The Lazy Manga Drawer :-)

Cartoon Club at the Main Project.

During the Cartoon Club at the Main Project in Grangetown Youth & Community Centre, we focused on making 3 frame comics.  All stories have three things in common;  Beginning, Middle and End. Nothing condenses that more than the three frame comic.  Here are two comics that Josh (man) and Ben (penguin) did. Great work!

Manga at Hemlington Hall Primary

The NewYear starts of with BANG! and KAPAUW! at TeesToons with a How To Draw Manga course.  This is the second time that Ingi works with the Year 3 kids at Hemlington Hall Primary and their inspiring teachers. Today we focused on drawing a head in Manga style and trying out various expressions. Needless to say the kids were great and worked extremely well  - so the next three sessions are bound to be fun!

Harry and Tylor even made drawings of Ingi.

The Canny Comic Con in Newcastle was a smashing success. – It lived up to its name and was as ‘canny’ as it could have been.

My highlights of the day were the two walk-in-workshops I gave. There was no lack of active kids crowding the table with much enthusiasm and oozing creativity  …and their parents, of course, who also had to draw – since anyone who sat at the table had to take part …for those are the rules of TeesToons ;-)

Needless to say, I had a great time and I hope that all those that took part did as well!

Thank you all so much for making it a day to remember.

My very best,

ingi

Ingi will be at the Canny Comic Con in Newcastle 10th December

The Canny Comic Con is a little festival of comics and sequential art. It will be held at Newcastle City Library all day on Saturday 10th December 2011.

Comics, comic strips, comic books, graphic novels, manga, sequential art – however you want to refer to it, the CCC wants to celebrate everything about telling stories in pictures. Whilst it won’t be on the same scale as some of the bigger UK comic conventions, we’re going to have a full range of activities, including: talks and panel discussions, workshops, and a hall of stalls where you can meet some of the finest comic-creating talent from the region and beyond.

Whatever your age or experience, whether you read comics, make comics, or are just interested to know a little more, we hope to have something to interest you.
Entry to the CCC will be FREE. That’s right, no charge. You don’t need to book tickets, you don’t need to pay us anything. Come along and support the biggest comic event to be held in the North East for over fifteen years.

Our Monsters were on the menu for the younger ones and the older drew Manga characters. That bloke with the cap and orange t-shirt is a brilliant illustration of Ingi by Lucas.
